Saluting 'Cher'

Christy Robinson accepts a proclamation honoring the charitable work of her mother, Chris “Cher” Robinson, from Brentwood Mayor Bob Taylor and Youth in Government participant Jorge Ordaz at Tuesday’s City Council meeting. Chris Robinson, a longtime advocate for special kids and the arts, is recovering from cancer, and a “Chris Aid: Cher the Love” benefit is planned for May 3 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the De Luna Ranch in Brentwood. Four bands – The Dave Crimmen Band, Desert Moon, Misbehavin’ and Stringin’ Along – will perform. The event also includes raffles, Cher look-alike and karaoke contests, tri-tip and chicken dinners and a few surprises. Tickets are $20 in advance ($10 for children under 12), and may be purchased at the Press offices, 248 Oak St. in Brentwood. For more information or to help with the event, call 925-634-1155 or log on to www.brentwoodbuzz.com.
